The LTO -2 backup tape was released in March 2003. Verbatim LTO-2 94527 has double capacity and transfer speed as compared to lto-1 backup tape. This version of verbatim LTO2 tape 94527 switched to PRML Partial Response Maximum Likelihood encoding. Verbatim lto 2 94527 has 200 GB native capacity and compressed rate of 400 GB. It has a transfer rate of up to 40 MB/s.
